MEET THE MEN’S COACHES
Coach Aaron Wessner:
Coach Wessner, a native of Frisco, TX, is entering his third season as Head Coach of the Sprayberry Boys Soccer Team. He played soccer in high school at Beech High School and graduated in 2001. He went on to play five years at Southwestern Assembly of God University in Waxahachie, TX, graduating in 2006 with B.S. in Church Ministries with a specialization in counseling/psychology.
After a brief stint with the Dallas Inferno, Coach Wessner began coaching at Frisco Wakeland High School for one year. The following year, he moved to Frisco Centennial High School from 2008-2015, where he led the JV program to five consecutive district titles. In the spring of 2015, Coach Wessner also led the boys and girls middle school soccer teams at Leadership Prep School. The girls’ team went from 0-7 in the first season to 7-1 in their second season. Coach Wessner took them to the state semifinal before losing out to the eventual state champions. The state semifinal berth was the first in school history. In 2016, he took over the boys’ soccer team at Sprayberry High School. They struggled in their first season, but were able to turn things around in year 2. In the 2016-2017 season, Sprayberry finished with a record of 3-13-1. Just a year later, they finished 14-3-2, as region runners up in GHSA Region 6-6A and clinched a playoff berth for the first time in 15 years. Coach Wessner was named Region 6-6A Coach of the Year, and eight players were named as All Region First Team or Honorable Mention.
Coach Wessner is married to Alyssa Wessner. Aaron and Alyssa were married in June of 2016 and moved from Frisco, TX to Canton, GA. They now reside in Marietta, GA with their two dogs, Sadie and Zoe, and cat, Chloe. Alyssa works as a substitute teacher for Cobb County and teaches with VIP Kid.
